Jonathan M. Niloff, MD, MBA, FACOG, FRCS, FACS, FACPE
Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board, MedVentive
Chief Executive Officer of MedVentive since 2000, Jonathan is responsible for the overall performance and strategic direction of the company. He is currently an Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School. Prior to joining MedVentive, Jonathan served as President of the Beth Israel Deaconess Physicians Organization, Medical Director for Obstetrics and Gynecology for its Affiliated Physicians Group, and Chief of Gynecology at New England Deaconess Hospital. He has deep expertise in all aspects of medical cost and quality improvement, and has published extensively on the topic of gynecologic oncology including the development of the CA125 test for ovarian cancer. Jonathan received his undergraduate education at The Johns Hopkins University, an MD degree from McGill University, and an MBA degree from Boston University.
Tom Congoran
Interim Chief Financial Officer, Atrius Health
Tom has extensive management, finance, and information systems experience and previously served as Chief Information Officer for Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates. Prior to joining the organization, he served as Vice President of Business Development for Pegasystems, Inc., a publicly traded software company. He also previously held the positions of Chief Operating Officer for Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Hampshire and Chief Financial Officer for Healthsource, Inc. a publicly traded HMO management company then acquired by CIGNA. Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Stanford University, a Master of Business Administration in Accounting from San Diego State University, and a Master of Education from Tufts University.
William R. “Will” Cowen
Managing Partner of Long River Venture
Will has over 20 years of early stage company building experience as a CEO of several start ups, and as an early stage venture investor. Before joining Long River Ventures in 2002, he founded his most recent company, NaviMedix, in 1998 with backing from Northbridge, Atlas, and GE Equities. Today NaviMedix is a leading healthcare IT firm that streamlines transactions between healthcare payers and over 300,000 healthcare providers. Prior to NaviMedix, Will was CEO of venture backed Pegasus Medical Technologies, an electronic medical records company which he and his partners sold to HBOC/McKesson in 1995. Early in his career he was a co-founder of a consumer product company (Thermocell) which is today a $500 million dollar division of the Hunter Douglas Company. On the investing side, he was a Managing Partner of Interface Technologies and Firepond Partners, two early-stage healthcare funds. Will serves, or has served, on the board of numerous companies including Afferent, Aircuity, GetWellNetwork, Medical Metrx Systems, MedVentive, NaviMedix, Phreesia and Verax Biomedical. Will holds a B.A. from the University of Colorado and a M.B.A. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management.
Peter J. Grua
Partner of HLM Venture Partners
Peter’s investment activity has been focused on healthcare services and healthcare information technologies. Prior to joining HLM in 1992, Peter was a Managing Director of Alex. Brown & Sons, where he directed research in healthcare services and managed care. Previously, he was a research analyst at William Blair & Company and a strategy consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. Peter has served or is a director of a number of public companies including: Atria Communities (NASDAQ), Familymeds (NASDAQ), Health Care REIT (NYSE), The Advisory Board Company (NASDAQ), and Renal Care Group (NYSE). He is also currently a director of several private companies including CaseNet, GTESS, MedVentive, Sanovia, Silverlink Communications and Socios Mayores en Salud. Peter received an AB from Bowdoin College and an MBA from Columbia University.
Nancy J. Ham
President, MedVentive
Nancy has a proven track record of innovative and high energy leadership in establishing, developing, growing, and operating both private and public healthcare information technology companies. As president, Nancy is responsible for managing MedVentive’s day-to-day business operations. Most recently, she served as president of Sentillion, Inc., a leading innovator of identity and access management solutions for more than 350,000 caregivers practicing at over 500 hospitals. Prior to Sentillion, she was president of ProxyMed, Inc., the industry’s second-largest independent medical claims clearinghouse with connectivity to over 450,000 providers, 30,000 pharmacies, 500 laboratories, and over 1,500 payers. Before ProxyMed, Nancy was responsible for managing more than $50 million in revenue as general manager of institutional and connectivity service Healtheon/WebMD Corporation. Additionally, she served as SVP, Business Development and CFO at ActaMed Corporation and spent five years in leveraged finance at GE Capital. Nancy holds a B.A. in economics from Duke University and a Masters in International Business Studies (MIBS) from the University of South Carolina.
Michael B Kaufman
Founder and Managing Partner of Knowledge Based Transactions (KBT)
KBT provides merger and acquisition, alliance, and strategic consulting services to healthcare technology firms. In his previous position as Executive Vice President of Eclipsys Corporation (ECLP), Michael was responsible for the company’s corporate development activity including mergers and acquisitions, alliances, product strategy, and new business development. As a key member of the executive team, he played a significant role in bringing Eclipsys public, and in growing the company to a billion-dollar plus major player in the Healthcare Information Technology arena. Prior to Eclipsys, Michael was the CEO of SDK Healthcare Information Systems in Boston. In 1997, SDK was one of the founding companies merged to form Eclipsys Corporation. He is currently a member of the national council of Washington University in St Louis and serves on the advisory board of the Health Sector Management program of the Graduate School of Management at Boston University. He also serves on the board of several early-stage healthcare technology companies and venture capital firms, and is a member of the Common Angels Venture Capital Group. Michael holds a BA and an MBA from Boston University and an MSW in social policy and administration from Washington University in St Louis.
