Jonathan M. Niloff, MD, MBA, FACOG, FRCS, FACS, FACPE

Founder, Chief Medical Officer and Chairman of the Board, Jonathan is also an Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School. Prior to joining MedVentive, Jonathan served as President of the Beth Israel Deaconess Physicians Organization, Medical Director for Obstetrics and Gynecology for its Affiliated Physicians Group, and Chief of Gynecology at New England Deaconess Hospital. He has deep expertise in all aspects of medical cost and quality improvement, and has published extensively on the topic of gynecologic oncology including the development of the CA125 test for ovarian cancer. Jonathan received his undergraduate education at The Johns Hopkins University, an MD degree from McGill University, and an MBA degree from Boston University.
Nancy G. Brown
Chief Growth Officer
Nancy G. Brown served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development of athenahealth and was responsible for identifying opportunities that drive growth and operational improvements. Previously she held the position of Senior Vice President of Clinical Service Development and spearheaded the creation of athenahealth’s clinical product line. She has more than 25 years experience in clinical research and automating clinical information systems, combining management, consulting and information technology skills. Prior to joining athenahealth in 2004 Nancy was a Senior Vice President at McKesson Corporation focused on marketing and strategic planning. Nancy joined McKesson in 1999 when it acquired a company she co-founded, Abaton.com, a provider of internet-based clinical solutions for the ambulatory market. Earlier Nancy spent eight years at Harvard Community Health Plan where she held several senior management roles. Brown earned a Bachelor of Science at University of New Hampshire, and an MBA from Northeastern University.
William R. "Will" Cowen

Will has over 20 years of early stage company building experience as a CEO of several start ups, and as an early stage venture investor. Before joining Long River Ventures in 2002, he founded his most recent company, NaviMedix, in 1998 with backing from Northbridge, Atlas, and GE Equities. Today NaviMedix is a leading healthcare IT firm that streamlines transactions between healthcare payers and over 300,000 healthcare providers. Prior to NaviMedix, Will was CEO of venture backed Pegasus Medical Technologies, an electronic medical records company which he and his partners sold to HBOC/McKesson in 1995. Early in his career he was a co-founder of a consumer product company (Thermocell) which is today a $500 million dollar division of the Hunter Douglas Company. On the investing side, he was a Managing Partner of Interface Technologies and Firepond Partners, two early-stage healthcare funds. Will serves, or has served, on the board of numerous companies including Afferent, Aircuity, GetWellNetwork, Medical Metrx Systems, MedVentive, NaviMedix, Phreesia and Verax Biomedical. Will holds a B.A. from the University of Colorado and a M.B.A. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management.
Peter J. Grua

Peter's investment activity has been focused on healthcare services and healthcare information technologies. Prior to joining HLM in 1992, Peter was a Managing Director of Alex. Brown & Sons, where he directed research in healthcare services and managed care. Previously, he was a research analyst at William Blair & Company and a strategy consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. Peter has served or is a director of a number of public companies including: Atria Communities (NASDAQ), Familymeds (NASDAQ), Health Care REIT (NYSE), The Advisory Board Company (NASDAQ), and Renal Care Group (NYSE). He is also currently a director of several private companies including CaseNet, GTESS, MedVentive, Sanovia, Silverlink Communications and Socios Mayores en Salud. Peter received an AB from Bowdoin College and an MBA from Columbia University.
Nancy J. Ham

Nancy has a proven track record of innovative and high energy leadership in establishing, developing, growing, and operating both private and public healthcare information technology companies. As President & CEO, Nancy is responsible for the overall performance and strategic direction of the company, as well as managing MedVentive's day-to-day business operations. Most recently, she served as president of Sentillion, Inc., a leading innovator of identity and access management solutions for more than 350,000 caregivers practicing at over 500 hospitals. Prior to Sentillion, she was president of ProxyMed, Inc., the industry's second-largest independent medical claims clearinghouse with connectivity to over 450,000 providers, 30,000 pharmacies, 500 laboratories, and over 1,500 payers. Before ProxyMed, Nancy was responsible for managing more than $50 million in revenue as general manager of institutional and connectivity service Healtheon/WebMD Corporation. Additionally, she served as SVP, Business Development and CFO at ActaMed Corporation and spent five years in leveraged finance at GE Capital. Nancy holds a B.A. in economics from Duke University and a Masters in International Business Studies (MIBS) from the University of South Carolina.
Mark Levine

Mark Levine joined Core Capital in 2000 from GCI Venture Partners, an early stage technology venture capital fund that he founded and that was an early investor in webMethods, one of the most successful software IPOs in NASDAQ history.
Previously, Mark served as an officer of GEO-CENTERS, a technology firm with more than $200 million in revenue when it was acquired by SAIC. There, he was responsible for corporate development, government and industry relations, and management of the firm's intellectual property portfolio, licenses and joint ventures. Prior to that, Mark was Subcommittee Staff Director for the Small Business Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives and was involved in several successful legislative and regulatory initiatives including the Small Business Innovation Development Act and the Small Business and University Patent Act.
Mark received his M.B.A. from The George Washington University and lives in Washington, DC with his wife and two children.
Enrico Petrillo, M.D.

Dr. Petrillo has a wealth of experience as a venture investor, healthcare consultant, entrepreneur, and physician that has been instrumental in the success of CB Health Ventures (CBHV), two funds which he co-founded with Mr. Blume. Dr. Petrillo has been advising and building successful healthcare and IT companies for over 20 years. He initiated investments in Aileron, MedVentive, US Genomics, BioTrove, Quovadx (now Healthvision), eBenX (acquired by SHPS), and Morphotek (acquired by Eisai). Dr. Petrillo has been a Director and/or an Observer at GeneOhm [acquired by Becton Dickinson - BDX ] , Exact [EXAS] , Aileron Therapeutics, MedVentive, BioTrove, U.S. Genomics, Morphotek, Quovadx, eBenX, TransMedics , and was a founder of Molecular Insight (MIPI). Previously he was a partner at Fletcher Spaght, a Boston-based consulting firm spun out of Boston Consulting Group that specializes in strategy and market consulting for multi-stage medical and IT companies. He is a current advisor to the Department of Defense, Office of the Secretary and affiliated agencies. In addition to being a full time partner at Excel, Dr. Petrillo is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at Boston University. Dr. Petrillo earned both his undergraduate and M.D. degrees from Tufts University, and completed his internship and residency at Harvard-affiliated hospitals in Boston.
Caleb Winder, Board Observer

Mr. Winder brings strong experience in healthcare, sales and marketing, finance and venture to the Excel team. Prior to joining Excel, he was a Principal at Biotechonomy Ventures, where he worked closely with Juan Enriquez to identify, finance, and manage several entrepreneurial ventures. In 2005, Mr. Winder assisted in the founding of Synthetic Genomics, Inc. including securing the initial and second financings of the company, and serving as the initial Director of Finance. Mr. Winder served as member of the board of Xcellerex, Inc which he and Mr. Enriquez restructured and drove to successful financings. He received his M.B.A. from Babson College, magna cum laude, where he honored as a Babson Fellow in the Center for Technology Enterprise and was elected as Director of the Entrepreneurial Finance Group. He received a B.A. in Biology with a minor in Economics from Colby College.
